Welcome to the 2009-2010- Cheyenne All-City Children's Chorus Season!

For three decades, the All-City Children’s Chorus has provided an unforgettable, quality artistic experience for young singers.

This Cheyenne-based group of children in grades four through eight has performed in venues throughout Wyoming and all across the United States and in Canada, appearing at major national choral conventions, conferences and festivals and earning scores of awards in the process. Not surprisingly, the ACCC has become recognized as one of the finest children’s choruses in the United States.

The Chorus was founded by visionary local music educators, led by Mary Jo Morandin, and has been ably led for the past ten years by artistic director Diane Hultgren and executive director Mary Ann Fritz, assisted by a dedicated group of parent volunteers.

The ACCC continues to grow, adding a Lyric Choir in 1996 to serve as a training ground for younger singers and gradually expanding its repertoire of choral standards to include Christmas music, psalms, the poetry of William Blake, and Broadway show tunes. Last fall singers participated in the Cheyenne Depot Festival of Arts with a performance under the direction of conductor/composer Judy Herrington. All-City Children’s Chorus was also honored by an invitation to perform for American Choral Directors Association Northwest Division Convention in Portland, OR. This year ACCC looks forward to a collaboration with the Cheyenne Symphony Orchestra in a performance of Carl Orff’s “Carmina Burana.”

The All-City Children’s Chorus has brought an invaluable social, cultural and artistic experience to hundreds of children during the past three decades and thousands of people have enjoyed and been inspired by their uplifting music. Everywhere they perform, these talented young singers serve the state proud as ambassadors and Wyoming’s commitment to the musical and social development of its children.

Choirs

The Cheyenne All-City Children's Chorus is comprised of two choirs:

Lyric Choir
The children in this choir are in fourth through eighth grade. The children in this level have demonstrated readiness to sing in parts and part-singing skill development is emphasized. These singers can sing half steps and major and minor intervals accurately. Vocal techniques are stressed and pentatonic sight singing is emphasized.

Basic music theory, history, and appreciation are developed. Foreign language skills and three-part singing are introduced in this choir. Lyric Choir performs on all major concerts and may make a variety of local trips to perform for different groups. Singers at this level are expected to practice at home daily 20 to 30 minutes. Lyric Choir is considered to be an Intermediate Choir.

Concert Choir
The children in Concert Choir are in fifth through eighth grade. This choir includes students who have established good vocal technique, can sing independently in parts, are good sight- readers, have ability to "leap" vocally wider and more dissonant intervals, and can hear dissonant harmonization. The literature used in this choir is obviously more difficult and tends to be more serious in nature. A much greater emphasis is placed on foreign language, advanced choral technique and accelerated reading readiness.

This choir performs publicly more frequently and are often involved in regional and national touring. Singers in this level are expected to spend a 1/2 hour to an hour in daily home preparation. This choir is an Advanced Choir.
